CO Monitor

Rapidly measures carbon monoxide (CO) in exhaled breath without expensive laboratory equipment. The portable and low-cost CO Monitor is a powerful tool for use in the treatment of smoke inhalation. It provides a quantitative indication of the severity of lower airway smoke exposure. A much broader use of the product is in smoking intervention. Residual CO is present in the breath of patients as long as a week. Using the CO Monitor as a motivational training tool can dramatically improve a smoking cessation effectiveness. Periodic follow-up tests will uncover the majority of smoking relapses in patients attempting to quit. The CO Monitor can be used in many different applications including research studies, smoking cessation programs, hospital emergency rooms, emergency vehicles, and respiratory care departments or for clinical use in the primary care and specialist physician’s office. CO testing is fully reimbursable in the US under CPT codes.
